Tropical Depression Gener resulted in storm warning No. 1 in 18 provinces across Luzon, including Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Pampanga. The tropical cyclone’s eye last appeared near Kibungan in Benguet.
The hurricane moves west at 15 km/h, with gusts hitting 55 km/h and a core pressure of 998 hPa. Cagayan, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, and Abra are projected to receive 100-200 mililiters of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 18.
At least 50-100 mm of rain is expected in the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Region, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Quezon, Rizal, and Aurora provinces. Flooding and rain-induced landslides are probable under these conditions, especially in places severely or highly susceptible to these threats.
PAGASA posted an alert of the least potential penalties from strong winds in any locations covered by signal number 1. A marine gale warning will remain in place for the coastal waters of Northern Luzon’s northern, western, and southern coasts, as well as Visayas’ seaboards and Mindanao’s western, northern, and eastern coasts.
