The suspected members of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s supposed private army, commonly referred to as the “angels of death,” are currently being investigated for firearms ownership by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) gets specific names from Police Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III of Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) to figure out that those charged are members of the Angels of Death.
Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI), created by Quiboloy, utilizes reservists from the Philippine Army’s 2nd Signal Battalion, which is not yet designated as one of the angels of death.
2015 saw SMNI given authorization as a Philippine Army-connected reserve unit and granted the unit designation 2nd Signal Battalion.
a total of 540 reservists in the 2nd Reservist Signal Battalion, containing Two officer reservists and 538 enlisted reservists, of which up to 200 reside in Davao.
Counsel for SMNI, Atty. In the words of Mark Tolentino, convinced SMNI personnel got reserve force retraining “as Filipino” and “not as the private army of KOJC.”
Lawyer from KOJC Atty. Israelitio Torreon remarked that the “angels of death” were mentioned by Quiboloy’s supposed rape victims who came forward to the authorities, proving that the existence of a private army beneath his supervision is “not true.”
Based to the PNP, the victims were warned that they would be persecuted by the “angels of death” if they reported to everyone about their sexual relationships with Quiboloy.
