Alice Guo, the mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, will be processed equally like any other inmate when she gets transferred to the Pasig City Jail.
Guo will be integrated into the Pasig City Jail’s general population, says Jayrex Joseph Bustinera, a spokesman for the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
The jail should hold 36 people, but at this time it is overloaded with 135 inmates.
Guo will be confined to one of the four jail cells designated for the general population of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs). Guo was the subject of numerous arrest warrants for her thought involvement in prohibited Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) and other violations.
After being transferred, Guo will be processed and then led to her cell. In addition to being examined medically and having any symptoms of abuse or torture checked, she will also be clothed, and interrogated, have her photograph taken, and have her fingerprints obtained. VIP treatment is prohibited by BJMP rules, and because there isn’t enough cell space, everyone is in the same cell.
Guo’s safety was ensured by Bustinera, who said that they have an intelligence unit and that there is no immediate threat. He guaranteed that Guo’s prisoner rights would be protected in the same fashion as those of other inmates.
However since the PNP was unable to complete all required documentation, the anticipated transfer did not take place on Friday night. The BJMP member highlighted that Guo must pass a medical examination before being permitted to move in with additional PDLs.
